Where would you rate your current health on the chart?

Before I started prioritizing my health – making it non-negotiable, setting rules and boundaries around my day to set myself up for success, I was probably around a 2 or 3.

I was clinically depressed in the peak of my youth, and found my way out only through mindset and determining that I did not want to live even a month on anti-depressants.

Thankfully, I am a far cry from that today. Unfortunately, the same scenario that faced me during my early 20s faces most people all the time.

Real, Whole, Ancestral Nutrition

I’ve been through the gamut. During the start of my journey into fundamental health, I started as vegan. That was unsustainable for my health goals (if you are actually reading labels of mock meat/dairy products)

I slid into vegetarian. That stuck for about 5 years until I moved to North Carolina to farm. I literally could not eat enough calories and was pounding protein bars every 2 hours, and still dropping weight and having terrible energy.

I introduced red meat. GAME CHANGER. 

Within about a week, my mood and energy stabilized (so did my partner’s.) I stopped being hangry all the time, and my labido came back.

Moral of the story: Ancestral nutrition, prioritizing protein and making sure you got a ton of healthy fats is the most sustainable framework I have found for energy management and having little to no hunger or cravings!
